Who we are
Unregistered Spacecraft is a fantasy/sci-fi role-playing game created by Matt Frye.
Our website address is: https://www.unregisteredspacecraft.com.
Data Storage
We store data in two places: our server and your browser.
We use it for two purposes: basic functionality and user experience improvement.
We delete it on two events: 100 days since your last interaction or on your request.
Data Storage
Some data is collected as part of your regular browsing behavior. We record how people get to this website (e.g. from a web search, from an ad, from a link on another site, etc.) because we want to know what is effective in advertising Unregistered Spacecraft’s existence. We also keep track of how people browse within the site because we want to know how far people get into adventures before clicking out or what click paths get folks where they want to be most efficiently.
Some data is stored in your browser in cookie and session storage. You will be told when this happens. We only store information you create, like character information or progress through a solo adventure. Our cookies expire after 100 days.
Data Use
We can’t avoid some basic functions of the internet. When you connect to this website, the server is told where you came from and some information about your browser and computer. We don’t access this information except as described elsewhere on this page.
We use some of the information collected in your browsing to improve the user experience on this site. For instance, if no one clicks past the first chapter of a particular adventure, we might revise the adventure or remove it entirely. If a majority of people just download the full rulebook instead of accessing individual rule pages, we’ll put more energy into making that rulebook file easier to use.
This site exists to make a fun game, not to harvest your data.
Data Lifespan
Our cookies expire after 100 days. This means that any data in cookies will be deleted automatically after 100 days of non-use. Every time you visit this site, that cookie timer is reset. You can delete your cookies whenever you want.
If you post comments, save character information, or post things into a chat room, you can ask to have it removed. Just email mistakes.were.made@unregisteredspacecraft.com. Depending on the type of information you want removed, we may ask for some evidence to prove it came from you. (Nothing invasive. Just the same information we collect in your normal interactions.)
Comments, Characters, and Public Posts
When you interact with this site, we collect some information from you and we store some information in your browser. Most of this is just a regular function of modern websites. Some is extra, and we use that to provide a better user experience.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Aside from that initial association between your IP address, any name you provide for the comment, and the browser you used to post, we don’t store or track your IP address.
Gravatar Avatars
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Character Profiles
If you create or save any character profile information, we typically store that in your browser.
Public Posts
Aside from comments, any material that you post to this site as part of a chat room/inn interaction, a dungeon crawl, or a rolled-and-wrote will be saved and associated with your username.
Ad Content
Pages on this site may include advertising content. These ads collect data according to their host services’ policies. Those policies are available on request. You should also see a link near each ad indicating its source.
If you think any ad services we use are overly invasive, let us know at mistakes.were.made@unregisteredspacecraft.com. Those ads pay the bills, but we don’t want them ruining your experience.
Who we share your data with
We don’t! Or, at least, we don’t share any data we collect. We try to select ad service partners with limited data collection practices.
